{"id":280312,"date":"2023-01-22T17:14:00","date_gmt":"2023-01-23T01:14:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jthelander.com\/?p=280312"},"modified":"2023-01-22T17:14:00","modified_gmt":"2023-01-23T01:14:00","slug":"how-are-investment-firms-retaining-talent-in-2023","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brightturn.io\/?p=280312","title":{"rendered":"How are Investment Firms Retaining Talent in 2023?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In this month&#8217;s&nbsp;Thelander Digest, we examine different trends on how investment firms are retaining their talent for 2023.&nbsp;All of this&nbsp;data comes&nbsp;from our 2022 Year-End Salary Increase &amp; Bonus Survey.&nbsp;Let&#8217;s dig in by exploring the numbers!<br>As seen in our charts below, two trends become clear:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The median salary increase percentage is still high compared to staff-level employees at privately held companies.\u00a0However, increase percentages are lower for 2021 and 2022 (which were banner years).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Investment Firms are being more reserved with their cash, as they fear\u00a0going into a potential recession \/ uncertain economic times.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image img-border\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/jthelander.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/ac5301bc-9602-e47c-30ed-92f03628045d.png\" alt=\"YoY percent who received a salary increase\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image img-border\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/jthelander.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2fe43024-67c4-ee84-ad7d-5b0306b57694.png\" alt=\"YoY median salary increase as a percentage of base pay\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By examining\u00a0the final chart, we can see that merit and performance were the most common factors in determining a salary increase for investment professionals. Inflation played more of a\u00a0factor for\u00a0salary increases for entry-level analysts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/jthelander.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/9bb176f0-f912-f550-1cce-47c7b2aa8975.png\" alt=\"Kay factors corresponding with salary increase\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After analyzing our data, we see some notable trends:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Investment firms are still willing to pay top-dollar in order to retain talent, regardless of uncertain economic times.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Although the YoY median salary increase seems lower in 2022 compared to 2021, the percentages are still\u00a0higher overall, compared to staff-level employees at privately held companies.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Merit and performance are the dominant factors in salary increases for investment professionals. This indicates a strong and\u00a0competitive talent market going into 2023.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Want to learn more?
