We&#8217;ll take a look at where new hires come from, and\u00a0how long one stays in a position before being promoted.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Chart 1<\/strong>&nbsp;looks at where new hires to venture capital (VC) firms came from. We see the following trends:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Investment banks are the largest source of new hires for investment firms, and have grown consistently since 2022.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Most sources &#8211; such as undergraduates, graduate schools, consulting firms &#8211; &nbsp;have grown since 2022.&nbsp;This suggests that&nbsp;investment firms have been diversifying their hiring sources overall.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The only sources that haven&#8217;t grown since 2022 are CVCs and private companies, though it should be noted that private companies remain the third most popular source.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image img-border\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/jthelander.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/df503048-0d98-7618-8c9f-3cab377364bd.png\" alt=\"From what types of organizations did new hires come from?\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Chart 2<\/strong>&nbsp;looks at&nbsp;the&nbsp;<strong>median<\/strong>&nbsp;number of years one stays in a position before being promoted by&nbsp;<strong>total AUM<\/strong>.&nbsp;We see the following trends:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The total AUM impacts the number of years one&nbsp;stays in a position for Sr. Managing Director \/ Sr. Partners, Managing Directors \/ Partners, Director \/ Principals, and Senior Associates.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The higher the AUM,&nbsp;the less time it takes to get promoted.
